Small Bowel Video Capsule Enteroscopy

New advancements in technology have allowed for the development of a small pill that has a camera in it, which can visualize the small intestine.

There are roughly 20-25 feet of small intestine that are not visualized by either EGD or colonoscopy. In patients with anemia despite normal EGD and colonoscopy, or who have diarrhea/abdominal pain, this procedure allows for visualization of the remainder of the GI tract. This procedure is performed in the office at 99th Street, and does not require anesthesia to perform.
